It has been a hard, HARD week in Texas. If you’ve been following me over on Instagram, you know that the devastation along the Texas coast from Harvey is profound. There is work to be done, for a long time to come. We’re choosing to be the tortoises, as we know this effort is a marathon, not a sprint. If you can’t physically be here to help with the cleanup effort, I invite you to donate, if you’re able, and pray.
And, now, for some levity.
Several years ago, we did some work on our master bedroom and we really loved how it turned out. The blue was a color we carried over from our last house. When our kids were really little, we instituted the “no toy” rule in our bedroom. I figured we had plenty of square feet for the kids to occupy with their 8,000 toys. One toy-free room was needed, for my sanity and theirs. In January, I got that crazy hair to purge, remember? It really got us thinking about how we use the space in our master bedroom. As a result, a few thing got trashed, some got donated, a bit more got repurposed and the rest went to Craigslist.
Here’s your before.
And, this? This is your after.
We took that awesome pew Scott refinished (it was a result of our former parish’s remodel), and gave it the proper attention it needed. Then, we made the most beautiful wall gallery of crosses, photos and sweet memorabilia to hang above it. That was a project! I think I love the photos we had taken in Europe for our 20th wedding anniversary the most.
Now, to get some pillows for that pew. Sheena?
By removing the armoire that stored absolutely nothing and moving some things around, we now have a space that’s functional and gorgeous. The sale of that furniture even allowed us to buy a new chair for the room (coming soon!) where we can curl up with a good book and cup of hot tea. I cannot wait for that.
Up later this week? The boys’ (long-awaiting) bathroom reveal!
