Listen to Your Mother Austin is Live!

Finally! I’m so happy I can share this news with y’all. Trust me, keeping this to myself has not been easy.

Being selected for the Austin show was easily a top ten moment for me. It’s not often you get to read something about a subject that’s quite dear to your heart in front of such a loving, supportive live audience. And then for it to be shared on the interwebs? Icing. Cake. Although, my kids will tell you they are more impressed I’m on YouTube than anything else.

At least there’s that.

When I wrote the original post, I put it all out there (as I often do) not really considering that I would have to read this OUT LOUD. There’s definitely a difference between crafting the written word and delivering the spoken one. I’m not sure I’ve ever been more nervous in my life. Ask Scott. I almost bailed because of those nerves.

But, ultimately, love won out. Love of Luke, love of our suffering and love of God. Luke’s story is one I’ve been charged to tell until he can be the voice. It’s been an honor.

I’m the second reader, right after Jeff. And, if life affords you the time, please give a listen to all the Austin readers. They knocked it out of the park. They really, really did.

Brought back lots of memories for me. How we worried and prayed for sweet Luke, you & Scott (remembering him as a baby still) and the doctors. Everyday my darling CC would ask me what I had heard about Luke and now almost 10 months without my darling I weep alone and thank God for precious Luke. Have loved the Whitakers for over 45 years!

This brought me to tears, real ones. I remember reading that blog post, but hearing you read it was so much more. Thank you for sharing.

Of all my posts, I’m so grateful that’s the one that I submitted. It was a joy to read it aloud!
