Who We Are
Howdy and welcome to Team Whitaker, where things are slightly chaotic, a little funny and always entertaining. I am the mom of six – yes, you read that correctly – and wife to one amazing man. My children range in age from teen to toddler. I grew up in the Texas panhandle and if this blog could talk you would totally hear my twang. Instead, you just have to rely on the stellar writing. My husband and I met on a blind date at Texas A&M. He wanted a sorority t-shirt and I wanted to date a man in uniform. Win-win. I started a freelance graphic design business in Summer 2004 and have some pretty awesome clients, including the Vatican! Somehow, I’ve managed to figure out how to work during naptimes, bedtimes and a few random times in between. It’s a pretty sweet gig and a total sanity break.
What You’ll Find Here
This blog is about making mistakes, reaching out for advice (and the occasional glass of wine at 10am), finding God in the details, planning some parties, organizing your corner of the world and praying I don’t provide too much fodder for the kids’ future therapy sessions. Six children and a whole lot of mistakes have helped me become a better wife and mom and I hope my “How I Do It” (HDYDI) page helps you find your way! Even though I have largely given them up, I am still, unashamedly, Dr Pepper’s #1 fan, a die-hard Aggie, a devout Catholic (converted and was confirmed an hour before my rehearsal dinner!) and absolutely must read the book before the movie; it’s a cardinal rule. While writing this, I was interrupted 1,562 times.
