Who We Are
Howdy and welcome to Team Whitaker, where things are chaotic, funny, real and almost always entertaining. I am the mom of six – teen to toddler – and wife to one amazing man. I grew up in the Texas panhandle and if this blog could talk you would totally hear my twang. Instead, you have to rely on the sass and my stellar writing. Of course, you can get your daily dose of southern twang via my Instagram Stories. My husband and I met on a blind date at Texas A&M. He wanted a sorority t-shirt and I wanted to date a man in a military uniform. Win-win. I started a freelance graphic design business in Summer 2004 and do work for construction companies, collegiate Catholic campus ministry programs, Catholic elementary/high schools, diocesan offices, religious orders and a bakery (they pay me in cupcakes!). Somehow, I’ve managed to figure out how to work during naptime, basketball carpool, after morning workouts, in the late evening hours and a few random times in between.
My first book, Live Big, Love Bigger, is due out Fall 2019 by Ave Maria Press. You can pre-order it here! If you’re struggling to live authentically and want to live a ‘hell yes’ kind of life, then this book is for you. I tell you all about it here.
What You’ll Find Here
On my blog I share openly and honestly about making mistakes, reaching out for advice (and the occasional Shiner beer at 10am), finding God in the details, planning some parties, organizing your corner of the world and praying I don’t provide too much fodder for the kids’ future therapy sessions. No matter where you come from, I sure hope you feel welcome here. It’s the southerner in me, y’all, everybody has a seat at the table. If you’re wondering how we do life with six kids – there are times I wonder myself – then check out all these posts. I am, unashamedly, a Dr Pepper super fan, a die-hard Texas Aggie, a devout Catholic (converted and confirmed an hour before my rehearsal dinner), a Pure Barre enthusiast and a lover of all things Beautycounter.

Where You Can Find Me
I’m a self-proclaimed social media junkie and a lover of the Insta-story, feel free to give me a follow on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest or Twitter. Occasionally, I crash my diocesan paper or pop on to “The Jennifer Fulwiler Show” on Sirius XM. It was also a tremendous honor to be a part of both Blessed is She and Take Up and Read. I wear many 10-gallon hats, but my two favorites are wife and mom.
