**This post contains affiliate links.** I love to take photos, just ask my kids. When we're on vacation, I'm usually behind the camera which means I have tons of pictures of my kids and Scott but very few of us all together. Two years ago, I discovered Flytographer just before our 20th wedding anniversary trip to Europe. We got the most spectacular pictures of us. I mean, like frame-worthy. So, when we decided to head to the east coast this summer for photos, I figured why not give them a try stateside? These Washington, D.C. photos speak for themselves. Our photographer, Elisenda, was just a delight. I had hopes of taking the photos at the Capitol, but with security (and the … [Read more...]
Week in My Life: Sunday, Nov. 19
Once a year, I document our life for seven days. I share the real stuff, the hard stuff, the funny stuff and everything in between. Mostly, I do it because our lives are full and I fear I’ll forget the little things we do that really form our family. Maybe someday the kids will enjoy these posts as much as I enjoy writing them. Ha! You can read all about it: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. After a full, but fun, weekend we got a slow start to our Sunday morning. We enjoyed breakfast with cousins before they headed home and probably a little too much screen time. Oh well, vacation. Scott headed up to the church to assist with a class on stewardship … [Read more...]

Ha! You can read all about it: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I arrived in Dallas/Richardson early evening on Monday night and got to squeeze some cute nephews, a niece and my sister-in-law and brother-in-law. Armed with ibuprofen, water and cough drops, I rallied on Tuesday morning and made my 5:45am Pure Barre workout, but this … [Read more...]
The Best of 2016
I always love the "best of" lists people write: best photos, best blog posts, best recipes, best everything. It's such a glimpse into life, isn't it? 2016 was beautiful, and hard, just like most years. With age, I'm starting to truly understand that no year is perfect, rather it's our perspective that changes. We learn to soak up the joys and live in the moment for we know no milestones are guaranteed. This was the first year, in nine years of blogging, that I haven't religiously checked my blog stats. I think I just stopped caring so much about the numbers and started focusing more on what I was writing rather than how often I published it. For those that are new here, I'm so honored you … [Read more...]
Texans in Europe for 20: Rome, Italy
Our 20th anniversary trip to Madrid, Toledo, Córdoba and Sevilla, Spain; Fatima, Santarém and Lisbon, Portugal; and Rome, Italy, was flat out amazing. To read all about it, just click on those links. When you have to end your tour Europe, we say do it with a bang. That's pretty much how the entire day went. Hope you have your Fitbit on because y'all are about to do some walk-ing. We arrived in Rome late in the evening the night before and were picked up at the airport by our lifetime friends, Paolo and Patrizia. We have known them for 16 years, when we met during our Jubilee 2000 pilgrimage with our high school youth group. Back then, neither of us had kids. Now we have 9 between us! … [Read more...]
