On June 29, Fr. David Konderla became Bishop Konderla. I still don't even know what to do with that. Because he's Anna-Laura's Godfather (and because we really love him!) we loaded up the Griswold family van and drove to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and back last week. People kept asking us about the 14-hour drive and Scott and I kept laughing. It was just as fun as one would imagine, especially the trek from Dallas to Tulsa. Whole lotta nothing to see and a decent amount of screaming from our littlest. But, we powered through. In total, it really wasn't that bad. We've learned a thing or two about road trips with kids, which I should totally share, but let's stay on task, shall … [Read more...]
7 Quick Takes: The nicest stranger, the coolest game & being kind
- 1 - I'm skipping quotes of the week this week because, SPRING BREAK. We are all enjoying the slower pace, later mornings and freedom that comes with no schedule. It's divine. Can that be a quote? - 2 - The baseball was fabulous. The bathrooms, nosomuch. One of our first days of spring break, we loaded up the gang and headed to the Holy Land, also known as College Station, for a little Aggie baseball. They are on a winning run (unlike my poor Iowa State Cyclones in the NCAA tourney) and their record after Sunday's game was an impressive 21-0. It was a little chillier than what we hoped it would be, but the kids did amazing, namely Gianna. She was happy as a clam and flirted with all the … [Read more...]
Happy Baptismal Anniversary Anna-Laura!
The sweet smell of chrism - I can still remember it. Eight years ago today, we baptized Anna-Laura. It was a beautiful summer day filled with an amazing amount of joy. To her Godparents, Fr. David and Lynne, thank you for being shining examples of Christ's light. And, to Archbishop Aymond who baptized her, you are loved and missed! … [Read more...]
7 Quick Takes: Feeling the Love
- 1 - I know you usually get some awesome QOTW, but this week I forgot to write them all down. That's what happens when you're heavily medicated. Yep, the back is still ka-illing me. Maybe next week I'll be pain free? - 2 - Oh, the HUGE bright spot this week was my birthday! I was on hydrocodone so that may have played a role in why it was my best birthday ever. Well, that and Dr Pepper cookies. I'll give you the 411 next week on all the festivities. I even made a list of 39 things I want to do this year. Wish me luck! It's possible I was slightly ambitious. - 3 - VBS was this week. And it is kicking - my - tail. Full report, complete with pictures coming next week. Pinky swear, … [Read more...]
A Most Beautiful First Communion
I knew I was going to cry, but Y'ALL. The day was full of so much joy. So much. And because I'm chatty and like to take pictures you get to hear and see the whole thing. Grab that cup 'o Joe and pull up a chair. I'll chat about the events leading up to the day and the lovely, lovely Mass. Pre-First Communion It started with pickup at the airport of the sweetest, funniest Godmother. The kids call her Lynne, Scott and I call her Lynnie. We've been friends with her since our days in Indy, 15 years ago. Lynne holds a special place in our Texas hearts. Luke and I treated her to some Rudy's BBQ and then picked up some yummy sweets for the party on Saturday. This was Anna-Laura's reaction to … [Read more...]
