No, I’m not losing my mind. Well, not technically.
Fridays are usually reserved for 7 quick takes, but I’m doing them early because a certain teenager has a big birthday on Friday. And, something fun is happening on Thursday (see #2). But, I’m getting ahead of myself.

“Mom, you’re going down.”
John Paul, talking smack before the NCAA tournament began.
“Your bracket’s busted. HAHA.”
John Paul, thanks big guy. After Iowa State lost in the first round I just couldn’t bring myself to get excited about the big dance. The Mayor broke my heart.
“She just chose teams who have cool school colors.”
Will, it’s true. When I don’t know who to pick, I first start with teams I detest, then I move to school colors. #imagirl

Time to brush up the twang. If you have satellite radio, jump over to Channel 129 at 12pm CST on Thursday, March 26. Yep, Jennifer Fulwiler and I will be chatting…about something. I’m guessing it will be part craft, part motherhood, part I’m not going crazy, yet. Should be loads of fun.

Money tree. Anybody find ours? In an effort to maximize the one-two punch, our AC unit died and our accountant emailed with the ever-fabulous news that we owe Uncle Sam this year. Oh well. Onward and upward. At least the unit didn’t die in the middle of July (horror of horrors here in Central Texas) and thank goodness for all the graphic design client work I’ve been given by some great referrals. It’s super fun being an adult sometimes, isn’t it?

We probably won’t have another Johnny Football sighting, but today’s Texas 4-H Day at the Capitol is sure to be a blast. I’ll give you the full 411 next week, but the most exciting part of the day? John Paul is serving as a legislative page for Texas Congressman, Rep. Tony Dale. Here’s hoping it doesn’t also include an ER visit.

Those kids have talent. Just before spring break, Clare and Anna-Laura enjoyed performing in our school’s annual event, Sound in Motion. Clare’s class had great fun with the parachute. Ohmygosh do y’all remember how much fun that was in elementary school? I used to beeline for P.E. whenever it was parachute day. Usually in my parachute pants and Kaepas. Anna-Laura’s class did a fun drumline with bouncy balls and drumsticks to Pharrell’s Happy. As if that tune wasn’t already etched in my brain on repeat, it’s now there forever. I was quite proud of both girls. Not a nervous bone in them. Luke was completely mesmerized and Gianna just sat on the gym floor and clapped the whole time. (H/T to my friend Renee for capturing those great pics of Anna-Laura and Gianna!)

Best laid plans. Do y’all remember when I shared my big idea of painting saint peg dolls for the kids’ Easter baskets? It appears I’ll now have a few late nights ahead of me to get them painted. My leisurely Lenten project didn’t really materialize the way I envisioned. Don’t we call that life? I was quite inspired by Lisa’s creations. I’m looking forward to taking next week off from blogging to focus on Holy Week and preparing my heart, my family and my home for the holiest week of the year.

Changing it up a bit for my best read of the week and instead sharing a few of my favorite ‘grammers. There are really so many, but every time one of these pops up in my feed, I can’t wait to see what bit of life they’ve captured.
AggieFBLife (hey, you knew the Aggies would show up somewhere!)
MelissaLyonsArt (her stuff is so beautiful, balm to the soul)
PhotosByLei (my birth photographer, her images are so inspiring)
2Sisters_Angie (you’ve seen this one, right?)
NatGeo (the world is a magnificent place)
Probably the earliest takes you’ll ever get. On Friday, go check the rest with Kelly!
