This week’s quotes of the week (QOTW):
“Dad, can you make me a messy egg for breakfast?”
Luke, we call that a fried egg, over easy.
“Those kids sure have some neat backpacks. But mine’s the coolest.”
Luke, on all the other PK kids’ choices on schoolwear.

I keep forgetting I have some sweet readers across the pond who may not fully share my love of all things American football or my collegiate alma mater, Texas A&M. To give you a taste of my passion and my life in college, here’s a great video on one of my very favorite traditions at university (H/T to Saturday Down South). It’s possible it’s my favorite tradition because I married one of those boys. Maybe. The best part was we met well before he became Scott Whitaker, the yell leader. I’ve just always known him as the cute boy with blue eyes who looks really good in uniform.
Aaand, a flashback.

1 million. Three years ago, I switched over from Blogger to WordPress and this week, the blog hit one million views. WHAT? I figure between my mom and I, that leaves room for about 1,000 other views. I suppose Johnny Football should get some props, too. So, welcome to our crazy. Beyond happy you’re here.

Better late than never. I finally sat down this week and created Gianna’s birth announcements because I’m super punctual. I think all my other baby announcements went out before the hospital bag was even cleaned out and put away. I know, you should probably unfriend me. It’s unforgivable. Here’s two quick peeks at the awesome photos my friend Shannon took. *love* Gianna is such a tiny ‘lil thing here. I’m guessing maybe seven pounds since these were taken just a few days after we brought her home. We were giving Scott all kinds of grief about the sweater photo below. He was all, “Girls can’t be yell leaders!” And Shannon and I were all, “it’s just a cute photo – RELAX.” For the record, some things are better left to the boys. Being a yell leader is one of them.
A few great reads on the interwebs if time is on your side today. I have long been a fan of Rachel. Her writing is about life that I can almost fully appreciate and she just seems to write about the thing that consumes my heart. This post was no exception. Kate is hosting a great series on her blog, Before I had a 7-Year-Old. Oh the wisdom. A mom you might know was up there this week, but the moms before her had some even greater gems. Good, good stuff.

Send caffeine. Stat. Y’all, Gianna’s sleeping (or lack thereof) is ka-illing me. We’re back to the “let’s wake up at midnight, 3am, 5am and 7am” gig. Oh, and the catnapping throughout the day and then the staying up from 3-9pm. I know it’s a phase. I know it will pass. And I know that she’s just trying to show me who’s boss. It ain’t me, sister. I should probably be putting her to bed in the bassinet/pack-n-play instead of the swing and I should probably stop nursing her to sleep. Yes, I’m probably more the problem than her. But dangit. I’m too old for this! But, BUT! She turned four months this week and I can’t stop loving this photo. She’s all, “hey Mom, let’s play!”

Still digging out over here, but I’ve got some fun things coming next week. The vlog. Finally! Our really awesome summer in photos. Yay! And Luke turns 5. Light up the candles, it’s time to party. All in all? Fun week ahead. Considering how much I hate the month of September, you know because of this and this, I have high hopes that 2014 will bring more tears of joy than sadness. Make it a great weekend y’all.
Thanks to Jen, the Sirius XM host who killed it this week, for hosting.
