For my Austin friends, mark your calendars.
As a non-Catholic I was always intrigued by the notion of saints. They were somewhat of a mystery to me. I could rationalize the sainthood of the Apostles and early martyrs, but modern-day saints were an unknown. How did a person achieve sainthood? Why was the Catholic Church in the saint recognizing business? Did these “miracles” attributed to saints really happen?
Over the last 17 years (almost 18!) that I’ve been Catholic, I’ve enjoyed researching those questions and discovering their answers. And, in 2003, I had the honor of attending Padre Pio’s canonization in Rome.
Get to the point, Kathryn.
It seems as if those miracles really do happen. I’m honored that my friend and an amazing woman of faith, Bonnie Engstrom, will be sharing about the miraculous rising of the dead of her son, James, through the intercession of Venerable Fulton J. Sheen.
I better see YOU and all your friends THIS Thursday, July 24, at 7pm at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Austin. Come hear how a little boy’s life was saved due to the intercession of an amazing man.
