This week’s quotes of the week:
“Slow down, Tex.”
Luke, telling Will to slow down when eating his dinner. We almost fell out of the chairs.
“I took a good nap, Mom.”
Luke, when I got him up from his nap yesterday.
“The baby comes out in four minutes?”
Oh, Luke, you are funny.
“I pulled my own tooth!”
Anna-Laura bounded into our room the other day and announced this. Thank God she did it, because pulling teeth is on the list of things I don’t do. Eww.
“That. Is. Awesome!”
Clare, as she and Scott worked on her pueblo for first grade. I have it admit. It was.

Just when I thought my horrific back pain would never come back. It did. With a vengeance. But unlike this summer, I’m severely limited on drugs I can take. It’s pretty much Tylenol, which is like taking nothing. This time it’s my upper back, not lower, and the pain is absolutely excruciating. I’ve tried massage, P&M Myofascial Release (I go again next week), ice and rest. It is just so, so painful, y’all. Scoliosis sucks. Many of you recommended some great options and I appreciate it very much. There’s only one thing I won’t consider, chiropractic care, because of many reasons. But, I’m hopeful that all the other methods will get me back to myself very, VERY soon. St. Gemma, pray for me!

It’s a sickness, I know. But I’ve started on my Christmas cards. Jen, you know how much I love these. We had family pictures a few weeks ago and I’ve been sketching out my design since my computer time has been greatly limited this week. We always drop them in the mail the day before Thanksgiving and the kids have gotten in on the excitement. I absolutely love this time of year – fall, Thanksgiving and Advent. This was our card last year. It’s the one project all year that I only have to please one client. She’s demanding.

Speaking of Advent, for my local gals, if you’re looking for a way to start off your Advent right, I have your answer. The Dominican Sister Advent Retreat. They held the first one last year and it was incredible (it also sold out). Get your hiney on the interwebs, click on this retreat link and get yourself signed up. I cannot wait for December 6!

Remember the Alamo! Oh yes, I was dillusional enough to go on the 7th grade field trip with 50 12- and 13-year-olds. If #3 had you worried I was crazy, I’m sure this seals the deal. Even though they sometimes get a bad rap, the kids were on their best behavior (no really) and Luke even tagged along as the official class mascot. I’m absolutely convinced that it’s impossible for older kids to misbehave when he’s around. They’re too busy being a good example and giving him high fives. I should clone him. We had a fabulous day and Will even declared, “You didn’t even embarrass me, Mom.” #winning

Nothing is sweeter than a baby that’s freshly baptized. In fact, right after the Sacrament, my brother walked right over to me and lifted Jack’s head to my nose so I could bask in the chrism. When I offered to take pictures of the big event, I failed to remember how much I cry at baptisms, especially for people who are related to me. Sorry for the slightly out of focus picture. I swear, through my tears, it looked right in focus.

Earlier this week I announced a sweet giveaway. Up for grabs is a one-year subscription to Verily magazine. You should totally enter. It ends next Wednesday, Nov. 13 at midnight. This is the kind of magazine you want your girls to happen upon in your living room.
Jen, as always, thanks for hosting.
