Funniest tweet I saw all day yesterday said, “It’s 70. You know what that means in Texas. HOT CHOCOLATE!” Indeed, we’re busting out the sweaters, boots and scarves because we’re just so dang happy not to be sweating every four seconds in the hot Texas sun.
It was a busy, but blessed, weekend. Mr. Whitaker celebrated a birthday on Saturday and enjoyed (or tried to) the A&M vs. Auburn game in Aggieland. Thinking about the outcome still breaks my heart. We need a defense so badly. On the upside, Mike Evans, one of our wide receivers, is a man among boys. He’s almost as much fun to watch as Johnny Football. The kids also had two soccer games and they were barn burners. We joked that John Paul’s was a soccer game, turned rugby match! Both ended in a win which was especially sweet.
Today, we ventured to 9:30am Mass and saw lots of friends and smiling faces. The kids were running around outside while we rehashed all the sports games – college and kid, alike – and exchanged hugs and laughs. Church has always been about finding God in the community and I’m grateful for ours. Amazingly, we made it through the entire Mass with just a couple of stank eyes. #winning
There was one thing Fr. Augustine said this morning that really hit home for me. He was talking about asking for God’s help when you lose your patience. Was he in my house yesterday?! At any rate, he reminded us that when we lose our patience, Satan rejoices and what was usually a small thing begins to be much bigger and we lose control. All for nothing, really. I needed that reminder. To quote a little Matthew Kelly, that was my “one thing” this morning.
This outfit reminds me again why I will love maxi skirts forever. I also hope I’m at the stage of pregnancy where people start figuring out that I’m not just gaining weight, but that there’s a bambino in there. I hope?
