It was a busy, but super fun, weekend for us. Friday, we celebrated Luke’s fourth birthday a few days early with some good buddies. You’ll get more on that this week. On Saturday, even though the game didn’t swing in our favor, the Mr. and I had an ABSOLUTE blast at the A&M v. Bama game in College Station, sans kids. It was one of those magical days.
We barely made it Mass this morning and found ourselves slipping into the pew just as the first reading began. That’s the first time we’ve been that late in a long time. Hey, it happens. Kid behavior was meh, which earned three of them a trip to the Tabernacle for some silent prayer following Mass. Sometimes, a mom’s stank eye just isn’t enough. God has to intervene. Such was the case this morning.
But, everyone was all smiles after Mass and I even ran into my sweet friend, who also happens to be a professional photographer. She was showing off her new camera (hello, lens jealousy!) when she said, “Hey, have you taken your ‘what I wore Sunday’ picture yet?” Seeing as how we skated into Mass, my answer was a ‘no.’ She smiled and offered to take it – hooray for a beautiful Sunday surprise! And, she even snapped a great one of kiddo #1. That kid is getting tall. Good thing I wore my heels. Thanks, Renee, for the awesome pictures!
Later this evening, Clare and I went to Vespers with the Dominican Sisters. Can I tell you how awesome it is to have Dominican Sisters that live around the corner? Yes, it’s that fabulous. We enjoyed a half hour of angelic voices, prayers and a rosary with these amazing women. September is always my most difficult month as a mom and tonight was exactly what my heart needed.
