This week’s QOTW:
“Homeless people are not zoo animals.”
Scott, to the kids. Last week, the oldest three attend Mobile Loaves & Fishes Camp. Who knew the heart they would change would be mine? I shared a bit about their week (and it’s profound affect on me) on Austin Catholic New Media.
Me: Luke, you’re so cute.
L: No I not.
Me: Yes, you are!
L: NO! I Wukey!
The bigs were at golf camp and spent the week with my parents, so I’m a little slim on funny quotes around here this week. No doubt, we’re already cranking out some good ones for next Friday.

Devout Catholics have better sex, U.S. News & World Report says so. Theology of the Body, for the win.

I wanted to say a massive THANK YOU for all your advice regarding my poor back. As fate would have it, I had a massage last Friday, we got a new mattress Monday (ours was under warranty and had a defect) and my parents were rockstars and took 4 of the 5 kids this week. While I’m still having pain, I’ll take two ibuprofen over 9+hydrocodone any day! My visit to the pain management specialist turned out to be a bust. I waited 1.5 hours and still hadn’t seen the doctor. But, I did get some fantastic people watching in. Whew, that was one lively waiting room. Thanks so much for the prayers, advice and well wishes. Y’all are awesome.

It’s time to get my Hullaballo Canek! Canek! on. That’s right, Coach Sumlin and the Aggie Football Team staff is hosting “Chalk Talk for Women” next week. I’ll be the one on the front row with the camera and the 8,000 questions.

A few nights ago, Scott and I took Bonnie’s advice and watched Silver Linings Playbook. I absolutely loved it. Be warned, there is a fair amount of cussing, but it doesn’t overshadow the story. And, I do love me some Bradley Cooper and Robert de Niro. People say and do stupid things when they’re in a bad way, but there’s hope that we don’t have to stay in that place forever. I laughed. I cried (almost). I’d definitely watch it again.

If you follow me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, you know we had a big doctor visit for the preemie of the house. I’m still not sure how it all went down, but we gained yet another specialist (craniofacial) and another consult before the neurosurgeon will set the date for Luke’s brain surgery. So. D#mn. Frustrating. But, before I get myself into too much trouble, I’m employing my husband’s advice of employing the 24 hour rule. I’m holding off on blogging about it for 24 hours. You can expect it up sometime on Saturday…

Jen (of the Conversion Diary sort) and I had the chance to enjoy some margaritas, great Tex-Mex and a kid-free dinner this week. It’s only been three months in the making. We’re nothing if not efficient. I have to share this. We chatted about politics, babies, husbands, NICU stays, books, motherhood and our faith, but the thing I loved most was our ability to speak freely – to share unconditionally – about what was on our hearts. If you read her blog, you know she is pretty awesome. But I will say that her blog is really only a tenth of who she really is. She is a gift to our faith! Next time, girl, I’m buying the margaritas.
Ever the hostess, visit Jen‘s for more quick takes.
