I know you usually get some awesome QOTW, but this week I forgot to write them all down. That’s what happens when you’re heavily medicated. Yep, the back is still ka-illing me. Maybe next week I’ll be pain free?

Oh, the HUGE bright spot this week was my birthday! I was on hydrocodone so that may have played a role in why it was my best birthday ever. Well, that and Dr Pepper cookies. I’ll give you the 411 next week on all the festivities. I even made a list of 39 things I want to do this year. Wish me luck! It’s possible I was slightly ambitious.

VBS was this week. And it is kicking – my – tail. Full report, complete with pictures coming next week. Pinky swear, pinky swear.

We decided to rally the troops and head to the Priestly Ordination Mass last weekend. Partly because it was hosted at our home parish and partly because our good friend, Barry, was becoming Fr. Barry. Hopped up on pain meds and loads of prayers, we loved the two-plus hour Mass. Gorgeous! Beautiful! Moving! Awesome! It was my first full ordination Mass to attend (we made a failed attempt nine years ago and ended up in the cry room and saw/heard nothing). Massive parenting fail. It took us nine years to recover!
One of the most unexpected surprises of the day was having Anna-Laura’s Godfather hang at the house with us for a bit before heading to Fr. Barry’s Mass of Thanksgiving. What a gift. And, truly, nobody tells funnier stories than Fr. David. That’s what happens when you’re one of 12. You have so much good material. Fr. David, we loved, loved having you here.

Today is World Blood Donor Day. If you want to know why that’s such a big deal at our house, you may want to visit this website where I share our blood donation story.

I cannot wait for Saturday morning. My BFF is flying in from Washington state and we’re enjoying an overnight trip to sweet little Fredericksburg, sans kids. Our original plans to drink margaritas in San Antonio got squashed because of some Heat v. Spurs thing going on. Whatever. Between the two of us, there are ten kids so when I say we’re going to have a great time, I mean it.

It’s with a wee bit of embarrasment that I share with my fellow Austinites that I had never eaten at Torchy’s until this week. I know. Shameful. It was a tough choice between the Democrat and the Trashy Trailer Park taco, but ultimately trashy won out. That, and the green chile queso was heaven-sent. I can now, legitimately, call myself an Austinite. As they say, Damn Good Tacos.
I pray y’all have an awesome weekend and a lovely father’s day celebrating the men in your life you love. Jen, thanks for being such a gracious hostess.
