Once upon a time, I featured my “quotes of the week” aka QOTW on the blog. I really miss those, don’t y’all? I think I’ll start bringing them back on occasion. Yes, that’s clapping I hear. I’m definitely bringing them back. First up:
“I love this!”
Luke, he says this about everything – the stuffed animal caked with goldfish, the Cars 2 Crocs he owns, the waffle I make him for breakfast. All of it. And I LOVE it.
“Hey, what is ‘dis pwace?”
Luke, about each new place we visit. Grocery store, our living room, the therapy clinic, you name it. He usually follows it up with quote #1. He is happiness personified.
“Mom, you owe me $50 bucks.”
Will, placing yet another bet with me that he lost. When will the kid learn? I have a memory like an elephant when money is at stake. If you must know, we were betting over what one word he missed at last year’s spelling competition. Now, if he bet me on sports trivia, I would most definitely lose. But don’t tell him that.
“What’s a Walkman?”
Will, in true astonishment. When I explained what it was, he just shook his head and said, “Man, you had it rough growing up.” Oh, lawd.
Clare’s seriously cute 5yo way of saying “caterpillar.”

Luke is 23 pounds. Finally!! Hey, he only weighed 3 pounds and change at birth, so he’s gained more weight than most kids. Even though he’s still not on the growth chart, this is a MASSIVE win for Mr. Luke. We’re starting to gear up for brain surgery this summer; this bright spot was so needed.

Pinish it, will ya? Y’all know I’m Pinterest’s biggest fan. So, when my buddy Dorian Speed started her “Pinisher” link up, I thought that was a thousand times awesome. Nothing like lighting the fire there, Dorian. Maybe when you’re in town in a few weeks, I can show you my project IN PERSON? Over a sweet tea martini? If you love Pinterest, but you’ve been afraid to try something, dive in and blog, tweet or Facebook about it and then link to Dorian. This might be my most favorite blog series ever. Sneak peek for next week’s Pinish It challenge. I mean, it’s only taken me four years to get my act together.

Jennifer Fulwiler is a stinker. Last week, she said the nicest things that made me tear up. Thank you, for letting me help. It really was an honor. And, I’m hoping some of those late night texts made you laugh. No momma should ever have to find herself in the NICU. It is the most difficult walk I’ve ever journeyed on as a mom. It’s touched my life so much that I blog with a group of other moms and dads about prematurity and navigating the unknown post-NICU world. It ain’t easy.

Last weekend, Scott and I had the chance to speak to a group of engaged couples about “Keeping the Romance Alive with Children.” I’m surprised we weren’t booed out of the room full of Longhorns. They even laughed at our Aggie jokes. I’m so glad we said “yes” even though we had a thousand things to do last weekend.

Oh, Jillian, why did I quit you? Ripped in 30 and 30 Day Shred are my go-to DVDs when my jeans get tight. Problem is, I just stopped caring. Until one day I looked in the mirror and started hating what was looking back at me. I know, that sounds so vain and a weeee bit dramatic. There are some super fun clothes in my closet and I no longer feel super fun wearing them. I dusted off (no really) the DVD and fired it up this week. I may not be able to walk, but I’m at least making my fat cry. It’s about dang time. The jogging stroller will be here today and it’s time to get serious. I must say, reading Susan’s post on her awesome marathon accomplishment really inspired me. As a mom of many, I think we sometimes try to give ourselves a pass, as in, I’m so busy I don’t have time to exercise. It’s a bad habit to get into. I hope y’all will keep me accountable, k?

Speaking of taking care of yourself… I got my hair cut this week. What is it about that small thing that feels so big and awesome? I can tell you that since Luke’s premature birth, my hair took the hardest hit. As a result of stress, it started falling out in clumps and thinned out so much. It was horrible. It’s taken me almost four years to get it back. Thank you, Jesus, for giving it back to me. Even though it also came back with gray hair. Oh well, beggars can’t be choosers.
Make it an awesome weekend and thanks to Jen for hosting!
