This week’s QOTW:
“Do you think you can just blow off the test?”
Words that actually came out of my mouth to my sixth grader about his test on the day before the last day of school. What the what? I know. I felt validated in saying them, too. By the way, he made a 105. Whatevs.
“Hmmm, waaaaaait a second.”
Luke, for just about everything. It is downright hilarious.
“So you mean Uncle Cory isn’t really a lawyer? All this time I thought he was.”
Will, when I explained to him that Uncle Cory got his MBA at Harvard, not his law degree. Still cracking up about that one.
“It’s a BOY!”

Yes, in the spirit of awesomeness, my brother and his lovely wife had a baby BOY! Y’all do not even know what a big deal that is. You see, my bro is the only male child born from all the cousin’s on my dad’s side. The weight of carrying on the family name was on his shoulders. Dude, I did my part. But my kids carry on the Whitaker family name. Jack Miles (named after my two grandfathers!) you are a rockstar. You are cute and look just like your sister. I cannot wait to squeeze those fat cheeks of yours and sniff that baby smell. Hopefully very soon. Your parents live in Alabama, so it could be a while. But hang in there, honey. We’re coming!

If you’re ready to pee your pants like it’s 1999, you have got to read this post by Jen Hatmaker about limping to the end of school finish line. Two best lines of the post?
“…and I’m like what fresh hell is this??” AND “We were awesome back in October; don’t you forget that.”
But please, for the sake of your sides and your sanity, read that post. If you have kids you will cry and laugh and if you don’t, you will still cry and laugh. Hilarious to the millionth degree. Oh, and holla for the Austin girl. We stick together down here.

Speaking of end of school year hell, I’m just not opening my email. Ever. Again. I think there are four evites, three mysignup lists, a school newsletter and 8 bajillion reminders and requests. I just can’t anymore. I. Just. Can’t.

We got the quote to get our almost 100-year piano tuned so the girls can start taking lessons. Not as bad as I thought. Do you know any great piano teachers in Austin? I am all ears.

In the spirit of “celebrating the end of school,” I shared my best mom cocktail on the blog. If you like sweet tea, I’ve got ya covered.
