We may not have gone somewhere lovely and exotic like Hawaii, Cabo or Europe, but we did have a pretty spectacular spring break last week, y’all. The best!
No sports practices, no dance, no homework, no packing lunches, no schedule and no alarm clocks. Scott took off a few days toward the end of the week and we made the most of it. In the span of a few days, we spent time at an Austin original, Hamilton Pool, trekked over to College Station (aka the Mothership) and my mom took the girls and I on an overnight trip to Houston.
We had a nice hike at Hamilton Pool Preserve – not too long, too hard or too hot. The reward at the end was a picnic lunch and a livestream of the Conclave Chimney on our iPhones! We managed to make it back to the house just in time for the big announcement of Pope Francis. I’m pretty sure Scott went faster than the posted speed limit to get us home in time. I was pretty impressed that the kids kept the complaining to a minimum and we made it out of the park with no cuts, scrapes or ER visits. Monumental, indeed.
After enjoying a lovely day outside, we trekked to College Station to see the sights, walk around campus, eat a burger and hug the neck of a very special Godfather, Fr. David. He and Anna-Laura share a special bond. And, now Fr. David’s iPhone now boasts Temple Run and Angry Birds apps. I’m not sure if the boys managed to get Dude Perfect on there or not. Hippest priest in College Station, for sure. Some good friends, the Shannon’s, joined us. It made for a pretty spectacular lunch.
As I was uploading these photos, I remembered taking some very similar just a few years ago. Oh my! We have all grown.
