I may have giving up shopping for Lent, but my oldest didn’t. He participated in the district and state 4-H Consumer Decision Making contests last weekend (it’s a joint thing) and his team placed third at district. Proud momma. Our goal? A $10,000 scholarship (yeah, it’s really that many zeros) when he’s in the senior category in just two short years. I’d say that’s shopping at its best.

Harry Potter, baby! I finally blogged about our 9-year-old’s big day. To say it was the most fun party ever may be true. Quidditch, edible glittery snitches and pop rock potions made for one fun day. The birthday boy and I had a grand time putting it together. Mischief managed. Maybe.

This week I learned a valuable business lesson. I charged what I was worth, the client was surprised at the final bill, but I stuck to my guns. Because, as my Chairman of the Board (aka the hubster) said, “Kathryn, the work you do is good. Don’t apologize for it.” Duly noted, Mr. Chairman.

I’m in love with these earrings. Like head-over-heels in love. Know anybody that sells Silpada? I got these as a gift. They are four pair of earrings in one. I know, I KNOW!

Luke threw up this week. For some of my sweet readers you might be thinking, oookay. Let’s just not rehash the terrible awful, but Luke is our preemie who has MAJORLA eating challenges. Severe sensory crazy and he’s spent the last 2.5 years in occupational therapy. So, when he throws up for the first time in nearly 8 months, I kinda freak out. Jury’s still out, but I do *think* it was a one-time thing. Here’s praying.

I’m serving as a contributor over at Electing the Pope. Yes, it’s very cool. Those who know me well know how much I love, admire and respect the Holy Father. More to come next week, I’m sure, as Pope Benedict officially hits the retirement conclave. I’m still in denial.

I’m finalizing all the details next week, but it looks like I will be hosting one heck of a First Communion par-tay here on the blog March 4-8. Awesome giveaways, free printables, yummy food, gorgeous flowers, preparing for the big day – you know, all the things you wanted to know but nobody ever told you. Cannot wait.
Make it a great weekend, y’all. We’ll be basketball tournamenting, haircutting and gearing up for baseball/soccer season. For more fun reads, check out Jen over at Conversion Diary.
