It’s giveaway time and I am excited!
Earlier this week, I shared the highlights from Fr. Leo’s visit to the Diocese of Austin. He was an incredible speaker and an equally fantastic cook. I was able to try his infamous Fusion Fajitas that bested Bobby Flay in “Throwdown” on the Food Network. Yeah, the fajitas are really that good.
Fr. Leo, the founder of the apostolate Grace Before Meals, recently published his newest cookbook, “Spicing Up Married Life,” but it does more than just feed your body. It feeds your soul. Fr. Leo’s smart like that.
In the book he showcases twelve dinners, from appetizer to dessert, along with reflections and questions for discussion related to married life. It is brilliant. When visiting with him this weekend, Scott and I shared we often do “at home” dates. We put the kids to bed early and then have a late dinner, just us. You know what Fr. Leo’s response was?
“That’s nice, but I have a better idea.”
HA. Love it. He suggests that couples have “month-aversaries” and send the kids to friends or family while they enjoy a date. Not only are you feeding your marriage, but friends, family and your children KNOW that you’re making your marriage a priority. He encourages families to build community to support their marriage. I know, I told you it was brilliant. So common sense that we’ve forgotten to do it.

This is fabulous! My husband and I do the same- dates after the kids are asleep. This would be great!
My husband and I got to see Fr. Leo speak last Saturday night and he was incredible!
This is awesome, Kathryn! This book is definitely going on my “wishlist”!
My favorite meal to cook…..Taco night! And spagetti dinner or meatloaf and mashed potatoes with corn is are close seconds!
I don’t really enjoy cooking meals, sigh. I do it because my family needs to eat! My favorite meal to cook is…pizza night. I could really use some inspiration in putting our marriage first. It is the one thing that always seems to go to the wayside, even though we know better.
My favorite meal – any meal where my kids ask for seconds or thirds. Or where they try something they previously turned their noses up at and enjoyed it after all.
)
One of these days I’m going to win a giveaway……I hope!
Thanks for sharing new & great things with us Kathryn!

Haha, I just laughed cuz i saw my fiance post right before me, I like making Homemade Tortillas, I know its not a “meal”, but my grandmother used to make them all the time and she taught my dad who whas now taught me how to make them, and they remind me of my family! Although, they have to be portioned out when made, because geez can you just sit there and eat them forever!
My favorite meal to cook is anything easy and healthy for my family. After working all day, I just want to get it done! LOL
Thanks for the giveaway!! I’m beginning to love roasting whole chicken. I hate touching raw meat, but there’s not much touching when I roast the chicken in the dutch oven. So comforting, healthy, cheap, and great for leftovers!

Sorry to have missed this event. My wife and love food and our kids are older and stay up later than we do so we will definitely have to have the date out. Also interested in the book.
I love to make homemade pizza! We do “Friday Night Movie Night” with the kids and make the pizza. It has turned into tradition. (I read on your blog that you do the same!) It really makes our Friday nights special.
