For all my friends who asked how the talk went in Aggieland, muchas gracias. I had forgotten just how deep my love for A&M truly is. As I drove back into town on 2818, there was a flood of memories and one over-arching feeling: gratitude.
A&M gave me life experience, a diploma, life-long friends, leadership roles, purpose and a sweet, sweet man I call “Mr. Whitaker.”
The theme of the retreat focused on Psalm 90:14. Finding joy in the day. I spent my time sharing with the girls how to say yes to God even when life throws you lemons. They got a dose of honesty, a little humor and my 100% unedited opinions. Just like the blog, but in person.
To all you Kappa Theta Beta girls from St. Mary’s – thank you for reminding me just how great college can be. You were kind, gracious, faithful and funny. Thank you for laughing at my jokes and thank you Jesus that I did not cry when I talked about Luke. If you have a Twitter handle, leave it below in the comments. I’d love to give you a follow and keep in touch! If I can’t live in Aggieland at least I can live vicariously through you.
And, to the Big Man, adoration was just so heaven-sent. Before I gave my talk, I spent a few moments in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. There’s no other way to describe the peace, the perfection and the love that I experienced while in that chapel. It just may have been the best gift I got all weekend.
Perhaps one of these days, my sweet girls will call Aggieland home. Oh, I sure hope so!
The girls and I in Aggieland, circa 2008!
