It is no secret how much I adore Vacation Bible School. What can I say, my Protestant upbringing did me right. To me, it is the greatest week of the summer. First off, it’s super cheap. All four of my kids enjoyed a week’s worth of morning activities for less than $100, plus we got t-shirts, snacks and a kickin’ CD. Second, we had a blast partying with, and learning about, Jesus. *I die* I met some inspiring moms (many of whom I’ve seen at Mass and NOW I know their names!), great kids and some fabulous teenagers. For the past, oh forever, I’ve been the Station Leader for “Sing & Play” which is the opening station for VBS. It’s win-win-win. I get to work with teenagers, sing/dance (horrible at both, but love to make a fool of myself) and get the kids fired up for the day. Who needs drugs when you can get the good stuff from God?
Rather than yammer on about how awesome the week really was, I’ll just show ya. One quick note: that last photo brings tears to my eyes everytime, for so many reasons. What an honor to lead VBS at our parish this year! God’s love was all around. As Fr. Ron so eloquently said at the beginning of the week: “Wait for the miracle.” I can proudly say it was worth the wait.
