HDYDI: Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the Little Folks

I really enjoy saint days, I just rarely take the time to make a big deal out of them with my kids.  This year, as I was perusing pinterest, I got inspired and decided to be the “fun mom” for once.  What fun.  I have got to do that again before the kids all graduate from high school.

On Friday evening, I conferred with the leprechauns and we came up with this!

Get it?  The rainbow (twizzlers) with it’s pot ‘o gold (rolos) and the clouds (marshmallows) makes the perfect treat.  I wish I could tell you I am *this* creative, but I’m just a really good copier.  Imitation = highest form of flattery, no?  I went online and found some printables for the kids:  crossword puzzles, word searches, coloring sheets, a quick quiz and a Prayer for St. Patrick.

The kids were quiet as church mice on a Saturday morning.  As soon as they discovered their treats, it was a little slice of heaven.  They had a blast and Scott and I caught an extra thirty minutes of sleep before Luke got the party started.  We spent the rest of Saturday working in the yard, playing with the neighbors and enjoying a great dinner with friends.  Hey, we ate at their house, so no Lenten promises were broken.  Promise.
