You may not know this sweet boy, but I’ve met his momma and they need your prayers this morning. You see, Baby Caleb and Baby Luke (toddler, now I guess) have a lot in common. Namely, a tethered spinal cord and a rockstar neurosurgeon called Dr. George. 21 months ago (but who’s counting?) Luke had the same surgery Caleb will undergo this morning. It seems like not that long ago we had a convention of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, PICC team, priests, nuns and two very worried parents in PICU. My, my how far we’ve come.
I just re-read the post from our first day and it all came back.
Y’all, when I tell you that Dell Children’s is the hardest place in the world to be, IT IS.
When I tell you that handing your child over to surgeon wondering in what condition you’ll get him back is heartbreaking, IT IS.
When I tell you that modern medicine is a gift, IT IS.
When I tell you that prayers make a difference, THEY DO.
Offer up what you’ve got folks. Another sweet family is in need of a few moments of grace. Let’s make that happen, shall we?
