Yes, I fully recognize that Advent started on Sunday, November 27. For me, it’s always *felt* like Advent once we hit December 1. Perhaps I’m still recovering from turkey hangover and Black Friday/Cyber Monday shopping highs. Either way, Advent is in full swing and it’s time to get to it.
My “how do you do it” Mondays and “top ten” Wednesdays are taking a December break while we focus and celebrate the season of Advent. I may sneak in a few quotes of the week! Over the next few weeks, I hope to share a few things with you that our family does during the Advent season. If you do anything special or uniquely you, I would really love to hear about it. I’m always looking for ways to make it memorable and meaningful for my family.
Today’s focus? What does Advent really mean?
If you’re like me, you love the holiday season. I lurve it. So much. If I could start listening to Christmas music at Halloween and put up the tree in October, I just might. There is something so warm, inviting, holy and awesome about the Advent and Christmas seasons. But, as the video link below reminds us, if you’re sick of Christmas by December 25, you haven’t been doing Advent correctly! Busted Halo is one of my stellar clients and they put together this two-minute video about Advent. It’s funny, it’s to-the-point and it’s relevant. I don’t care what church you attend (or none at all), click on THIS LINK. You can thank me later. They also have an Advent Surprise Calendar with mini-reflections each day. If you need a daily dose of faith during the Advent season, that’s a good place to start.
Get to preparing those hearts for an awesome Advent season!
