I don’t profess this to be a cooking blog, but I do profess to be a cook. My mom always told me the way to a man’s heart was through his stomach. That advice, coupled with nine years in 4-H food shows, has taught me a few things in the kitchen.
Mostly? Get a subscription to Southern Living magazine. Or, at the very least, go buy a SL cookbook. Any one will do, but my two favorites are “Easy Weeknight Favorites” and “The Ultimate SL Cookbook.”
Part of my summer cleaning involved finishing or trashing projects that have been piling up around the house. First on tap was the recipe box. I found some jewels in there. Who knew?? Even though it’s super easy to call Austin’s Pizza for takeout or swing by Sonic on half-price burger night, the eating out is not good for the waist or the wallet.
I love, love, love shrimp. When I came across this recipe, I had to try it out. My kids actually licked their plates. Yes, they really did. I contemplated not even putting the dishes through the wash.
