Well, Luke may not have won the judges’ final award of Preemie of the Year, but we do know he won the popular vote for his age group, with over 1,100 votes!! So. Proud. Here, Luke is learning to walk with his walker. More on that later this week.
As fate would have it, his next door buddy in the Dell NICU won the official title. Bryce is an amazing baby and he was all smiles at today’s Preemie Power celebration.
Today’s celebration, sponsored by Hand to Hold, drew a huge crowd and there were so many happy faces in that room. I told another mom, to the untrained eye, one might have peeked in that room and just saw a room of happy kids, hopped up on cupcakes and sugar, enjoying an afternoon playing. To those of us there, we know that it was inspiring to be in the presence of so many miracles. I caught myself watching one 10-year-old boy, wearing a dashing cape, throwing on his tennis shoes as he bounded from the bouncy house to the cupcake walk. Ten years ago, he was a 24-weeker fighting for his life. Had to catch my breath. Miracles surround us everyday. Today, we just happened to be around a heck of a lot of ’em.
I was especially proud that the inaugural H2H newsletter made it’s debut this afternoon, too. It was one of my creations and I loved every minute of designing it. Below, is the cover. You can check out the complete issue HERE, on Hand to Hold’s website.
Our “busy” weekend turned into less busy and more “wow, really?” That’ll be tomorrow’s blog post. Aren’t you glad we’re never dull around here? HA.
