Evidently, the insurance company at first glance doesn’t believe our sweet Luke is a candidate for a cranial remolding orthosis (CRO), i.e. helmet. However, his neurosurgeon, the plagiocephaly clinic, the orthotist and his pediatrician all disagree.
Oh, and so do I 🙂
In what felt like preparing for a court case, I’ve spent the better part of the last week collecting medical records, making phone calls, personally visiting each of those aforementioned specialists and chatting with our insurance case manager to get this helmet thingamajiggy covered by insurance. If they don’t cover it, Scott and I are going to have to resurrect our now-defunct money tree in the backyard and find a way to pay for it!
As a good friend with three special needs children recently reminded me, “If he’s meant to be in one, it will all work out.” So, we gave it our best shot and now we wait for the verdict. We should know an answer that last week of June.
I’ve been a little absent from blogging just because we’ve been enjoying summer, but also because Luke has had a really, really, really rough last couple of weeks. That’s in tomorrow’s post, though. No need to get ahead of myself.
I should have some cute photos of the boys. They’ve been at art camp all week and “the show” is tomorrow. We are waiting with great expectation to see the creations they’ve been working on all week.
