For most of us, we enjoy the long weekend. The extra day to spend with family and friends, eat some BBQ or sit by the pool. For others, they are reminded of the person that made the ultimate sacrifice for his or her country.
To those families, I say thank you. Which, quite honestly, doesn’t seem adequate at all.
As I dashed to Mass yesterday with the boys, I was reminded that America allows us to practice our religion freely. As I shopped at HEB, I was reminded that there are no armed guards telling me when and where I can shop. As I dropped the boys off at school, I was reminded that I decide where my children may attend school.
Our luxuries and freedoms are many here in the land of the free. I am proud to be an American. May God bless our troops currently serving and bring comfort to those families who made the ultimate sacrifice.
