Well, aren’t you lucky? Your blogger is back in the saddle. A clear sign that Luke is feeling better and momma got some rest – 5 hours…in a row. I am a new woman.
According to the NP, we have three goals today:
1. Wean him off the pain meds and oxygen.
2. Make some diapers.
3. Start feeds.
We’re waiting on anesthesiology to start goal #1. It’s possible he could be a little addicted to his epidural. It is like baby crack. I’m hopeful that weaning will go well. Once we lose the epidural, that means we also lose his catheter (foley). Those two things would be huge. HUGE leaps of progress.
We turned off his O2 this morning and he’s been maintaining a 95-100% O2 rate. We want it above 94, so far so good. If he can be a rockstar today on that front, he looses that face bling later tonight.
Diapers and gas are top priority. His belly is still a little poochy. We did try a 1/2 ounce of breastmilk this morning. He did okay, but was pretty fussy. A sign that he needs to get rid of some gas. We’ll see how it all goes down today.
So, prayer warriors, I’ve given you your marching orders. You know the goals…let’s make ’em happen.
Check back in tonight for a full report.
