My apologies for getting this off late. I had my OB visit yesterday and it kicked my tail – well, actually it kicked something else – and I was hopped on pain meds for most of the afternoon and evening. Hydrocodone I really do love you.
Before the visit, I had a great morning with Luke. He was alert and starting to look extremely hungry. Poor guy. When I hold him, it’s gotta be like going to the buffet at Pizza Hut and not being able to eat. Monday, big guy, Monday. His blood counts and blood pressures looked good overnight, so the neo opted to give him a bye on the labs and on the blood transfusion. Small victories.
I enjoyed lunch with a friend – Melanie, you always know what I need – thank you. When we returned to the NICU, there was a Longhorn football player visiting each patient. Thankfully, we had Luke’s A&M hat handy and lo and behold, momma was wearing her Aggie gear. I have a fabulous photo of the two of us with him. He encouraged us to do the hook ’em come Saturday. I reassured him we would, it just wouldn’t be in that direction 🙂 Actually, he was incredibly polite, well spoken and very sincere when he told us to “get well soon.” I told him the incentive for getting well was to cheer on the Ags come Turkey Day. That got a smile from both Luke and our Longhorn.
While I was recuperating at home, Scott spent the evening at the hospital with Luke. I suppose there was some much needed daddy-son bonding time going on. Quite happy that Scott enjoyed that time with him.
We’ll get some rest tonight and then spend some time with Luke tomorrow. I’ll get another post up late Sunday night – promise.
