Oh, my favorite doctor was back this week! Scott was making fun of me this morning because I was heading off to see the “other man in my life.” Funny, because after seeing him on a pretty regular schedule for the last three months, I feel like he’s a part of the family. Never fear, though, his eyes aren’t nearly as pretty as Scott’s and he’s way too short for me.
Baby started out a little persnickety on the monitor, but we finally got him/her settled enough to get a good heart reading. The BPP earned all 10’s this week – hooray for that – and then Dr. H did a quick ultrasound. Well…it was supposed to be quick. But, as soon as the baby popped on the screen, he says, “Hmm, interesting.” I took that to be better than, “Oh, that’s not good.” Which he did NOT say by the way.
After a really long five minutes of him whisking that ultrasound wand over my belly, we talked about the ‘interesting.’ Turns out one of baby’s kidneys is a little smaller than he’d like and the other appears to be a pelvic kidney. Still not sure on the particulars, but it’s not interfering with development and it’s a little hard to tell just what all that means via an ultrasound. At any rate, he’s planning on calling the pediatric urologist (another specialist we know well, courtesy of John Paul) and the neonatologist to give them some history so they’re well aware of us before we arrive.
Gotta love the pre-introductions. I feel like the cool pledge sister being introduced to the actives by the President. Hopefully, it will all be precautionary.
After Dr. H left the room, I had a chance to visit with the sonographer. She’s been working with him for 15 years and when I told her how much we enjoy seeing him, she just smiled and said, “He’s a great doctor. The best.” Can I tell you how thankful I am that providence landed us at this office with this doctor? That is surely an answer to prayer.
Enough gushing. Sorry.
My OB visit went well, too. I’m likely Group B strep positive – no hooray for that. Guess I’ll get a dose or two of antibiotics while in labor. It’s no big shake, as I’ve been positive for the last three babies. But, still.
So, it looks like delivery talk will be on the agenda at next Thursday’s visit. Time is a tickin’. Baby W will soon have a name (I hope), a cute little face to kiss and itty bitty diapers to change. Now that’s something to celebrate!!
As always, thanks for the prayers. So many milestones yet to reach, help us take them one at a time.
Next one? 37 weeks for me, 5 pounds for Baby W.
